What happens when multi-award-winning Reggae Gospel artist Minister Joshua Kesler teams up with multi-award-winning international worship leader and music pastor Noel Robinson? A sound is released that carries a powerful praise in it whilst sitting on a smooth reggae beat.

Noel Robinson and Joshua Kesler

“All To You” is a heartfelt testimony and thanksgiving song celebrating the ups and downs of life’s seasons. Joshua Kesler was born and raised in the UK and is of Jamaican heritage. He released his first single, “Lift Him Up” in 2013. Followed by 3 Albums. His vocal talents have taken him into Prison Ministries, Music Venues, Festivals in the UK, Caribbean & USA, as well as charity fundraisers. Still on the road to recovery following a road traffic accident in 2020, with temporary loss of sensation in his limbs, he continues to forge ahead.

Noel Robinson is a multi-award-winning international worship leader, music pastor, songwriter, and
producer with over 20 years of experience whose mandate is to see the body of Christ rise up in worship,
intercession, and unity in this generation. Both artists have celebrated “firsts” along their musical journeys. Joshua was the first UK Reggae Gospel artist to appear on BBC’s Songs of Praise, and Noel was the first British-born Worship Leader of African-Caribbean heritage signed to Integrity Music.

All To You is set to a steady and tight reggae beat with a warm bass line, provided by the award-winning production team of Stuart Green and Keziah Job of Hammond and Harmony Productions. The lyrics of All To You are something that we can all connect with.

Better known for anthems like Rain and Build My Life, switching lanes to bring you this musical piece, Noel
Robinson had this to say: ‘It’s a real honour to be able to stand with Joshua and sing a song, simply because the Bible says that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony .’

This all-round musical team of artists, musicians and producers, in collaborating, has not only presented something musically beautiful to listen to but has also paid homage to their Jamaican reggae roots as offspring of the Windrush generation.

Check in with yourself too.

London, UK. -Today is world suicide prevention day, and whilst today is an important reminder to check in with the people around us, I want to encourage you to do something else too: check in with yourself. Not just today. Everyday. Don’t allow cultural beliefs, false narratives or the pressure to keep going to convince you that you simply need to pray harder, get another degree, go on a shopping spree, book another holiday or have another gym session to remove what you are battling with internally. Sometimes we need to actually pause and confront what is going on within us. Journal. Talk to a therapist. Speak to a safe person. Speak to a professional. Give yourself permission to be honest about how you are really doing. And if you don’t have a safe person, please seek professional support. There is help available, and you do not have to carry everything alone.

Samaritans: 116 123: free, day or night.
NHS: 111 for urgent mental health support.
Papyrus hopeline247: 0800 068 4141 or text hope to 88247 for young people and those concerned about them.

And if you prefer not to talk, there are support services that allow you to communicate by text. Not being comfortable speaking does not mean you have to remain silent. I never want us to feel that we have to hide, suppress or minimise what we are experiencing just to feel like we belong. You matter. Your wellbeing matters. Your emotions matter. Ask yourself: why am I embarrassed to seek help? Why do I feel ashamed when
certain thoughts come to mind? Why do I feel sad about feeling sad? Why do I feel uncomfortable admitting that I need help? Why do I struggle to receive the same care, love and attention that I freely give to others?

Sometimes we can be so good at showing up, smiling, posting, serving, encouraging everyone else and carrying on with life that people cannot see what we are carrying. They are also dealing with their struggles. And learn how to speak to yourself, so that you don’t become embarrassed by the sound of your own voice when you need to ask for help. People do want to help, but nobody is a mind reader. Sometimes we have to learn how to communicate what we are experiencing even if the language at the time is tears and silence. Start small. Find that one safe person. Put boundaries around that relationship. Share what you feel comfortable sharing, and slowly, you can begin to become more confident in speaking up for yourself, advocating for yourself and finding ways to protect and maintain your mental wellbeing. You don’t have to tell everybody everything. But you do need to give yourself permission to tell somebody something. Today, whilst you are checking in on your friends and family, please check in with yourself too. Especially if you are someone who is always checking on everyone else.

Don’t normalise ignoring yourself. You are here for a reason. You are here for a purpose. Don’t ignore yourself. Don’t abandon yourself. Allow yourself to be seen, supported and cared for. Because you can post, receive hundreds of comments, likes, messages and words of encouragement, put your phone down, go home, lie
down in your bed and still feel exactly the same way. So use your voice online if that helps you express yourself (although I don’t encourage or even support people venting or projecting online), but don’t let social media become the only place where your pain gets heard. Let somebody hear you beyond the screen too. Whatever support you need, give yourself permission to seek it. You don’t have to wait until things become overwhelming before you reach out. Start with one safe person, one conversation, one step. Asking for help is not a weakness. It is an important part of caring for yourself.

Additionally: whoever has told you that your mental wellbeing is not important or going to seek help outside of your church is unbiblical, or that you should just focus on going to church more, praying more and reading your bible more; when you are dealing with hard issues internally does not like you or themselves, does not care for your soul, is wicked and does not represent the heart of Christ. Jesus never and would never ignore your wellbeing and tell you to serve it away. If the barriers of not seeking professional help came from the church, I’m sorry. That is not from God. God cares about your mental wellbeing. Your wellbeing is important to him, and you can see that throughout the bible. So do not allow the enemy to make you a puppet because of these wicked narratives. Do not allow the enemy to play games with your life because of all the doors that remain open simply because of the narratives you have heard in church or from people who claim to represent Christ. You can pray and still seek help. You can read your bible and still speak to a therapist whilst all at the same time, surrendering them to God!!! Renewal of the mind is biblical (Romans 12:2)!

We say it a lot: seeking support does not mean you lack faith. But I also want us to recognise that not seeking help can affect your faith and your relationship with God too. It can in fact weaken it and position you in lukewarmness if you stay spiritually bypassing anything that brings discomfort or pain. When you continue to carry things that need to be addressed, they can begin to affect how you see yourself, how you see other people and even how you see God. Sometimes what we are carrying internally can distort our perspective, affect our relationships and make it difficult to receive the love, truth and promises of God. This is why getting help is important. Please do not allow anyone’s wicked narrative to convince you that you have to suffer in silence. Your mental wellbeing matters. Your life matters. And God cares about you. You matter.

NEW YORK, N.Y. -For decades, reggae has remained one of Jamaica’s most influential cultural exports. Its rhythms, language and global reach have shaped how the world understands Jamaican identity. Yet when the sound entered Christian spaces as gospel reggae, it was not always welcomed.

Some churches associated reggae with secular culture or spiritual traditions they considered incompatible with Christian worship. Consequently, gospel reggae was often required to defend its legitimacy before it could be accepted as a vehicle for praise and ministry.

That resistance has not disappeared entirely, but the conversation is changing.

Listeners in Jamaica and abroad are increasingly recognising gospel reggae as more than entertainment. For many, it communicates faith through a musical language that feels familiar, culturally rooted and authentic. This is particularly important for younger audiences who want to embrace Christianity without feeling disconnected from their Caribbean identity.

The genre’s expanding influence also makes it difficult to regard gospel reggae as a marginal movement. Guyanese singer, songwriter and musician Samuel Medas has become one of the names closely associated with contemporary Caribbean gospel music. His international reach demonstrates that the genre’s influence is not confined to Jamaica, but forms part of a broader Caribbean Christian sound.

Christafari offers another compelling example. The group has spent decades using gospel reggae as its primary vehicle for evangelism, taking its music and Christian message to audiences across national, linguistic and cultural boundaries. Its ministry shows that reggae can carry the gospel far beyond the communities in which the sound originated.

Across the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Central America and other parts of the world, gospel reggae is becoming an increasingly visible force. Digital platforms, international tours, festivals and non-traditional ministry spaces have allowed the genre to reach listeners who may never encounter conventional gospel music inside a church.

This growing reach reveals that the debate surrounding gospel reggae is about more than musical preference. It reflects a continuing negotiation within Christianity over culture, tradition and change. The genre stands at the meeting point between inherited worship practices and contemporary cultural realities.

That tension should not necessarily be viewed as a threat. It may instead signal a period of transition. Gospel reggae is being debated because it is being heard, and it is being heard because people are responding to it.

Increasingly, the genre is being evaluated not only by its sound, but by its fruit. Testimonies of spiritual encouragement, transformation and renewed engagement with faith are challenging the belief that one musical form is inherently more sacred than another. When the message remains grounded in Christian teaching and the music is approached with excellence, opposition based solely on style becomes harder to sustain.

The question is therefore no longer whether gospel reggae belongs in the wider conversation about Christian music. It is already present in Jamaica, across the Caribbean and throughout the world.

Reggae has always carried the voice of the people. Gospel reggae directs that voice toward faith, testimony and hope. It is creating room for itself not through force, but through its ability to connect culture with the message of Jesus Christ.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – For years, Cario Young found fulfillment behind the scenes, producing music and helping other artists bring their visions to life. Stepping into the spotlight was never the objective. Yet with the release of his debut album, New Day, the Canadian-based Jamaican gospel recording artist is embracing what he believes is a higher calling; one that places his own voice at the forefront of Kingdom music.

For Young, New Day is more a declaration of purpose than merely the title of a song. It means a new beginning for me. It is a new wave, a new direction, a new approach,” he said. “Musically, it is me moving from behind a computer desk to embrace my calling as a recording artist.”

That transition, however, was not born out of comfort. It emerged during one of the most difficult seasons of his life.

Young admits that a series of painful experiences involving friends, family and people he trusted left him questioning everything.

“I felt so betrayed by the people around me and I almost walked away from it all,” he recalled.

Instead of allowing disappointment to silence his creativity, Young allowed it to shape it. He began experimenting with reggae music, and unexpectedly it resonated with listeners, creating what he describes as “a demand for more authentic reggae.”  He embraced the moment and used it to lay the foundation for what would become New Day.

The result is an album that does not shy away from life’s complexities. Throughout the project, Young explores themes of betrayal, perseverance, hope and spiritual renewal, while consistently pointing listeners back to the truth of Christ.

“My approach is always that life is real,” he explained. “Whether we are Christians or not, we face life on a real level.”

This philosophy has become central to his songwriting. Without presenting faith as an escape from life’s struggles, Young is using gospel music to engage those realities honestly while remaining firmly rooted in Scripture.

“I believe it is our duty to make the Gospel relatable,” he said. “We have to find ways to fulfill our mandate of winning souls without compromising on the biblical truths.”

Helping translate that vision into sound was veteran Jamaican music producer Canute, whose years of experience in the industry gave him an immediate appreciation for what Young was building.

“What stood out most was that Cario wasn’t just making music; he was carrying a message,” Canute said.

Recognizing that from the outset shaped his entire approach to producing the album.

“I knew my role wasn’t just to produce songs, but to help build a sound that matched the weight of what he wanted to say,” he explained.

That philosophy is evident throughout the Album. Instead of relying on production to dominate the listening experience, Canute intentionally crafted arrangements that allow Young’s message to remain the focal point.

“I wanted a sound that carried the weight of what Cario was saying,” he said. “Every musical moment pointed back to the message instead of competing with it.”

For Canute, whose production career has spanned years within Jamaica’s music industry, that commitment to purpose is what ultimately distinguishes New Day.

“It wasn’t created to chase trends,” he said. “It was created to serve people.”

That shared commitment between artist and producer gives New Day its identity. While reggae provides the musical foundation, the album’s heartbeat lies in its message, one that acknowledges life’s disappointments without losing sight of God’s promises.

Asked what he hopes listeners will remember after hearing the album from beginning to end, Young’s answer was neither elaborate nor complicated.

“God will sustain you,” he said. “He made it a promise that He will take care of us if we allow Him to.”

It is a fitting conclusion to a project that was born from hardship but anchored in hope. With New Day, Cario Young introduces himself not simply as a recording artist, but as a storyteller committed to creating music that reflects real life while pointing listeners toward an unchanging Christ. For an artist who spent years helping others find their voice, this debut marks the beginning of his own journey to becoming that which the Lord has ordained him to be. More than a voice or simply another artist, Cario Young has emerged as a storyteller whose music resonates across the full spectrum of the human experience, reminding listeners that no matter the season, every new day begins with Christ.

Now in its 2nd Year, the Canadian Selah Music Awards 2026 is growing from strength to strength. The Awards, created without borders, received musical submissions from over 45 countries, with Foreign Language Categories also,  and over two days, many of those nominated attended the event in Calgary to participate in a series of workshops and the awards themselves. Uganda, Jamaica, the UK, Haiti, Mexico, Spain, Venezuela, the USA, as well as various parts of Canada.

Day one opened up with a wonderful time of praise and worship at the impressive First Alliance Church, followed by a Panel Discussion from Industry Professionals, moderated by the multi-talented Maxine Reyes, who flew in from Japan, where she now resides. Attendees also sat in on a songwriting session and learnt about the relevant Canadian music bodies to register with.

Multi-award-winning Praise & Worship Leader and Artist, Noel Robinson from the UK, also held a leadership workshop, sharing his knowledge and experience gained through years of serving in the house and touring around the world was priceless.

Other attendees from the UK included Joshua Kesler, nominated in 2 Categories.  A former UK resident, now residing in Seattle, Toyin Adekale, was also a nominee.  The evening’s production was a well-attended night of praise and worship from some of the Nominees, with our very own Noel Robinson taking us through many of his well-known songs.

Day Two: The Awards themselves, held at the Martha Cohen Theatre, drew a packed house and featured a red-carpet reception. The musical moments from some of the nominees were well received; there were many categories to get through, as it truly is an international affair. The honorary recognitions highlighted the amazing work many are doing around the globe.

The UK’s Joshua Kesler picked up “Song of the Year” in the Reggae Category with “Thank You For The Cross.” and Noel Robinson was selected “Album of the Year” with “Change the Atmosphere”.

Left to Right: Hammond and Harmony Productions, co-producer Keziah Job and Joshua Kesler song of the year winner.
Left to Right: Noel Robinson, album of the year winner, Keziah Job, Toyin Adekale and Joshua Kesler, reggae song of the year winner.

It was a wonderful moment for all who were awarded that night, hearing their testimonies and the personal sacrifices that accompany spending time, praying, and allowing God and the Holy Spirit to guide them in their gifting. The team is already preparing for 2027.

For many gospel artists who transitioned from secular music, remaining steadfast in their faith can present ongoing challenges. Jamaican gospel singer Derrick Scott understands those struggles firsthand, having begun his musical journey as a dancehall deejay before dedicating his life to Christ more than two decades ago.

His latest single, “Deliver Me”, released on June 19 through his independent label, DScott Music, is a honest declaration of perseverance, focusing on resisting temptation and remaining faithful to God’s Word despite life’s trials.

“I was a deejay before I started singing, and sometimes when I look around at Beenie Man and (Lieutenant) Stitchie, I laugh. Me and him (Stitchie) used to learn to deejay around the same time on a sound system in Spanish Town named City Life. And mi sey, ‘how them man a mek money an’ me broke,’ but mi still hold the faith,”Scott shared. “That was one of my biggest temptations. But the fact that I am not drawn into the world by that shows I am withstanding temptation.”

Since embracing Christianity over 20 years ago, Scott has released four gospel albums along with numerous singles. “Deliver Me” not only reaffirms his unwavering commitment to his faith but also honors a promise he made to his late wife, Nadine, to remain faithful to God regardless of the obstacles he might face.

Nadine, whom Scott was married to for four years, passed away in 2022. “After losing her, I was going through a rough time, but my faith in God never wavered,” he said.

A native of Linstead in St. Catherine, Jamaica, Scott comes from a community with a rich musical heritage. The rural market town has produced several celebrated reggae artists, including Phyllis Dillon, Culture, and Scott‘s older brother, Freddie McKay.

Now available on all major streaming platforms, “Deliver Me” continues Derrick Scott‘s message of faith and perseverance.

Arts Council England National Portfolio Investment Programme 2028-33

The aim for this Portfolio is to develop a strong, diverse and resilient cultural sector that delivers excellent work for more people, in more places. The process will be straightforward for applicants: we will ask for less information than we have done for previous National Portfolio rounds, and organisations will be able to tell us about their work, and their ambition, in their own words.

  • Who can apply: arts organisations, museums and libraries
  • How much can be applied for: from £50,000 per year
  • How long the Portfolio is: five years from 1 April 2028 to 31 March 2033
  • What can be applied for: for working directly with the public, in support of the cultural sector, or both
  • When we’re accepting applications: this Autumn

The application process, and the decisions we make, will be shaped by our new Strategic Framework. The Strategic Framework has three objectives: Support excellence; Deliver for everybody; Reach everywhere.

Detailed information, including steps that organisations can take now, if they are considering making an application later, can be found here.
